Arsenal are said to be leading the race for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Ukrainian has caught the eye of Premier League sides after impressing in the Champions League this season, scoring twice in two games.

Mudryk was subject of much interest from top clubs over the summer, with the 21-year-old’s electric pace and direct nature appealing to the likes of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

But the North Londoners are not the only club interested in the winger — NewcastleSevilla and Everton are all said to be keen on securing the five-cap international’s services.

Because of the heightened demand, Shakhtar are set to increase their expected fee for the player, reports CBS.

Sources suggest that Igor Jovicevic’s side will be looking for more than £43million to prise their key asset away.

Mudryk has previously expressed his desire to play in England, saying: “I think every guy dreams about the Premier League.

“It’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach, I like the way they play.

“From my side, I can’t say no [to Arsenal]. But the transfer is not only my decision.”

The competition for the attacker is set to hot up again in January, but the race is open and Mudryk will have no lack of options if he does decide to move.
