The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has urged newly passed-out recruits of the Nigerian Army to brace up for the task of confronting terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats facing the country.

Oluyede gave the charge on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of 6,195 recruits of the 88 Regular Recruits Intake at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Addressing the fresh soldiers, the army chief emphasized the importance of courage, professionalism, and resilience, noting that they would be deployed to different parts of the country where they are expected to uphold the Army’s core values.

“You are joining a professional institution tasked with securing the sovereignty of our great nation. Wherever you are deployed, your actions must reflect your training. Display courage in the face of adversity,” he said.

He reminded the recruits that the military profession demands sacrifice, loyalty, and dedication, and urged them to stand by the oath they had taken.

“Your journey began on January 13, 2025. You have been prepared to face challenges that may seem insurmountable. Discipline, integrity, and selfless service must guide you,” Oluyede said.

He also assured them that their welfare remains a priority under his leadership, and said preparations were already underway for the next batch of recruits under the 89 Regular Recruits Intake.
