  3. Tragic Accident Claims Lives in Oju Township

    Chaos ensued in Oju Township of Oju Local Government Area of Benue State as a father, son, and a Hausa trader lost their lives in a mysterious well accident while attempting to recover a fetching device.

    Reports indicate that the tragedy unfolded when Mr. Matthew Iji, popularly known as Matthew Ekpengbe, a well-known car washer in the town, sent his teenage son to retrieve water from a nearby well.

    Eyewitnesses recounted that the teenage boy, believed to be between 15-16 years old, accidentally dropped the fetcher into the well. In a desperate attempt to retrieve it, he tragically lost his life.

  4. Benue State University (BSU) Unveils New Faculty and Programmes

    The Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi has restructured its Department of Mass Communication, dividing it into six new programmes and establishing a new Faculty of Communication and Media Studies to enhance specialization and professionalism.

The new faculty, led by Prof (Rev Fr) Vitalis Torwel as dean, comprises various programs such as Broadcasting with Prof Michael Kombol as head of department, Development Communication with Prof Andrew Ijwo as HOD, and Public Relations with Dr Tyotom Keghku as acting HOD.

  5. Governor Alia Commends UN Agencies for IDP Resettlement Efforts

    Benue State Governor, H.E. Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has lauded the pivotal role played by United Nations’ agencies in the ongoing resettlement process of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state. He described their combined efforts as highly commendable.

    The governor, speaking on Thursday night at a special event hosted by the Benue State Government to honor senior staff members of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the New Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi, pledged continued collaboration with UN agencies and other development partners to ensure the safe return of IDPs to their ancestral homes.
