Bobi Wine, an Ugandan reggae musician, music producer and a presidential candidate for Uganda, has narrowly escaped death, after a live projectile struck a vehicle close to him when he was speaking with the media.

A rubber bullet hit Bobi Wine, and was injured in his mouth during conflicts between security officers and the supporters of Bobi Wine.

The incident is part of an intensified chaos in Uganda as police authorities suppress the supporters of 38 years old musician, who is aspiring to put an end to the long tenure of the 76 years old President Museveni Yoweri in the election slated for the 14th of January 2021.

Senyonyi Joel, the spokesperson for Bobi Wine’s party, NUP, National Unity Platform, announced that he was struck by a rubber bullet when he sat in a vehicle among the convoy with the leader of the party.

Bobi Wine, whose actual name is Kyagulanyi Robert, and his followers were going to a campaign ground at Kayunga area, in Kampala.

“He had been shot with a rubber bullet, his mouth was torn, he had lost some of his teeth,” Senyonyi said.

Wine posted on Twitter that many members of his crew had been injured and some of them were in a bad condition.

The musician likewise said that he and his followers had tried to go to another campaign ground at Jinja, but security operatives obstructed him, and shot at his vehicle tyres.
