Buhari appoints Idoma-born Emmanuel Ameh as Executive Director in Bank of Agriculture

An Idoma-born Chartered Accountant and consumate Banker, Emmanuel Owoicho Ameh, has been appointed as Executive Director, Credit and Empowerment of the Bank of Agriculture. 

This was contained in a memo released from the Presidency, on Wednesday, announcing the reconstitution of the Board of Bank of Agriculture.

He is to represent the North Central region in the new board. 

Until his appointment, Mr. Ameh, a titled holder in Orokam, Ogbadibo local government of Benue State, was a Special Adviser on Economic Matters to the  Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yusuff  Sulaimon Lasun.

A celebrated and consumate banker, Ameh, popularly known as ‘Owie Zenith’, started his banking career with the then Chartered Bank Ltd, (now Stanbic IBTC bank PLC) in 1990 and rose to the position of Assistant Manager before crossing over to Zenith Bank PLC in 1996. 

At Zenith Bank, he managed various portfolios and Zones and rose rapidly to the rank of Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head in charge of Abuja and North Central, a position he held till his retirement in 2012. 

On retirement, he set up his professional accounting practice, rendering auditing and taxation consultancies.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the highly successful and capitalised Pillar Microfinance Bank in Abuja, serving as the Chairman, Board Audit Committee of the bank, since 2013.

A widely travelled man, Mr Ameh is married to Mrs Anne Enyantu Ameh (nee Enenche) and together they have 4 classy children.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria as well as Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria.
