BREAKING: Coronavirus lockdown: Senator Abba Moro inaugurates palliatives committee for Benue South

The Senator representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial District and Vice-Chairman, Senate Committees on Army and Interpaliamentary Affairs, and member Senate Committees on Appropriation and others, Sen. Abba Moro, over the weekend inaugurated an Eight-man Committee to distribute the Federal Government and National Assembly joint COVID-19 pandemic lockdown palliatives designed to mitigate the consequences of the lockdown on the poorest of the poor people and vulnerable families in Benue South Senatorial District, also known as Zone C.

Addressing the Committee in his Otukpo residence, Sen. Abba Moro enjoined members to be guided by the virtues of transparency, fairness and equity, especially the equality of Council Wards in discharging their assignment. Sen. Moro informed the Committee that the palliative package was the product of a rigorous negotiation by the National Assembly with the Federal Government on the imperative need to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on vulnerable individuals and families across Nigeria.

The terms of reference of the committee included but not limited to:
1. Select Five Hundred poorest of the poor and vulnerable families based on the equality of the 102 Council Wards in the Senatorial District.
2. Monitor and supervise the distribution of the palliatives in a transparent manner.

Sen. Moro urged the Committee not to pander to political influence peddlers and partisanship in the discharge of their assignment.

Members, while thanking the Comrade-Senator for the confidence reposed in them for the assignment, promised to effectively carry out the assignment to the benefit of the good people of Benue South Senatorial District without fear or favor.
