BREAKING: SDP rejects results from five LGAs in Kogi, calls for cancellation
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State has urged the cancellation of the November 11th gubernatorial election results, alleging irregularities. During the collation at the election center, SDP’s representative, David Edibu, submitted a plea to the Independent National Electoral Commission. They called for invalidating results in several local government areas, citing claims of corruption, vote buying, and excessive voting. Edibu highlighted that SDP agents were barred from approaching polling stations in these areas.
The state’s returning officer, Prof. Johnson Urame, received the petition on the commission’s behalf, ensuring a review. The Peoples Democratic Party expressed support for SDP’s plea, with their representative, Abubakar Mahmood, underscoring significant irregularities in the mentioned local government areas.
