Dunamis not owner of aircraft in Asaba incident — CCYF
The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has dismissed reports linking Dunamis International Gospel Centre to an aircraft involved in a recent incident in Asaba, Delta State.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the group described the publication, which alleged that the aircraft was connected to the church, as false, baseless and malicious.
Signed by its Convener, James Paul Adama, the statement maintained that Dunamis Church does not own a private jet and has never claimed ownership of any aircraft.
According to the group, the report published by some media platforms was misleading and intended to tarnish the image of the church.
The forum stated that investigations and inquiries conducted by it confirmed that the church had no ownership connection to the aircraft involved in the Asaba/Ogwashi-Uku incident.
“Any suggestion that the aircraft involved in the incident is owned by the church is false,” the statement said.
CCYF stressed that while Dunamis International Gospel Centre has the capacity to acquire a private aircraft for ministry activities if necessary, it currently does not own one.
The group further described the allegation as a fabrication and accused those behind the publication of spreading misinformation capable of misleading the public.
It warned that the dissemination of false information could attract legal consequences under relevant Nigerian laws, including provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act and the Criminal Code relating to false publications and defamation.
The forum urged media organisations, bloggers and members of the public to verify information through official channels before publication.
It also called on the public to disregard the report, insisting that the church had no connection with the aircraft in question.
CCYF added that the church reserves the right to pursue legal action against individuals or organisations found to have knowingly circulated false information capable of damaging its reputation.
