How Tambuwal’s withdrawal cost Wike PDP presidential ticket
Fresh facts have emerged on the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential election in Abuja on Saturday.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Atiku Abubakar emerged winner of the peaceful and keenly–contested election.
The former Vice President polled 372 votes ahead of Nyesom Wike who garnered 271 votes.
Bukola Saraki polled 70 votes to to third.
However, IDOMA VOICE observed that Wike missed clinching ticket the moment Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Sokoto State Govenror stepped down his ambition and urged his supporters to vote for Atiku.
Sources claimed that Tambuwal took the bold step when it became evident that Wike was going to win.
Many observers described Tambuwal’s action as a betrayal, forgetting how Wike stood for him in 2018 when he (Tambuwal) battled Atiku for the same ticket.
Meanwhile, Wike had earlier vowed to remain in the party despite lossig the ticket.
