Increase in fuel price pushed Lagos bolt driver to armed robbery

A 29-year-old Bolt driver, Jeremiah Adeniran, has been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for his involvement in robbing some of his passengers.

In an interview with journalists in Ikeja, Adeniran admitted to the crimes, attributing his actions to the recent surge in fuel prices, which adversely affected his business.

He explained, “Before, I could do 15 trips a day, but after the rise in fuel prices, my business was no longer sustainable, so I resorted to robbery.”

According to Adeniran, he had two accomplices who would wait on the road to carry out the robberies.

Adeniran claimed that he had engaged in robbery on only three occasions since he started resorting to crime last month. However, his spree came to an end when one of his victims spotted him the next day without a nose mask and promptly raised the alarm, leading to his arrest at Ikotun police station.
