Insecurity: Abuja-Kaduna expressway blocked
Hundreds of Kaduna youths on Saturday blocked the entry and exit routes of the Kaduna-Abuja expressway to protest mass abductions and killings across the nation.
The youths were said to have originated from Goni Gora village on the expressway where four persons were reportedly abducted on Saturday morning.
The protest, which commenced as early as 7 am, lasted for hours with the youths blocking the highway with various items.
The situation created gridlock and stranded passengers resorted to mounting bikes to go out of Kaduna town and beyond.
Succour came for the motorists and passengers when the Commanding Officer of the 312 Artillery Regiment, kalapanzin barracks Kaduna, Lieutenant Colonel M.H Abdullahi, persuaded the youths to reopen the highway.
He promised to take them to the Garrison Commander 1 Mechanised Division for more discussions on the way forward.
Abdullahi informed them of the arrest of two of the suspected kidnappers, adding two of the abducted villagers had been rescued too.
A delegation of the youth and the Goni Gora village Head Hon. John Doma accompanied Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi to the Garrison Commander who further reassured the youths security agencies were working towards finding lasting solutions to the incessant kidnapping in the state and the country at large.
