Insecurity: Senator Moro, zone C LG chairman, lawmakers meet

Due to the state of insecurity in Benue South Senatorial District, Senator Abba Moro, Friday, summoned an emergency security meeting in Otukpo with the aim of fathoming strategies to halt the menace.

Moro, who was obviously perturbed by the debilitating trend, called for cross- fertilisation of ideas amongst the critical stakeholders in the Senatorial District on ways of tackling the security problems in the Senatorial District.

He told the invited stakeholders that he was ready to partner with the various components of the Senatorial District on security, to make Benue South more secured for all.

The Senator, who also disclosed that he convoked the meeting with the view to finding out what the various leaders in the Senatorial District were doing in their respective areas, urged them to adopt community policing, stressing that security remains the business of all.

Responding, the various council chairmen who responded in the affirmative, said they had had security parleys in their various local government areas.

They also restated their commitment to the directive of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, concerning formation of vigilante groups in the all the nooks and crannies of their local government areas.

The meeting was attended by the nine local government chairmen and members of the State House of Assembly from Benue South Senatorial District and other stakeholders in Benue South Senatorial District.
