Latest News on NELFUND Student Loan Approval, Disbursement Today, October 12, 2025

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the reopening of its student verification portal for 48 hours. The move is aimed at giving tertiary institutions that are yet to complete their student verification exercise another opportunity to do so.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the portal will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

NELFUND explained that the extension is designed to ensure that all eligible students are properly captured and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND student loan application process.

The Fund urged institutions to take full advantage of this final opportunity, warning that any institution that fails to complete the verification exercise within the stipulated period will be excluded from the current loan cycle.

NELFUND had earlier closed the verification portal on Wednesday, October 8, following the expiration of the second round of applications.

Meanwhile, the Fund has published a list of 203 defaulting public tertiary institutions that failed to complete their verification processes.
