Malian players fight dirty after four straight World Cup defeats

Players from Mali Female Basketball team involved in physical duels after a loss to Serbia.

Mail replaced Nigeria at the tournament following suspension of Basketball activities by the government.

Mail lost their fourth straight basketball game at the ongoing FIBA Women’s World Cup to Serbia 81-68 in a group stage game played on Monday, September 26, 2022.

The team lost 89-56 to start the tournament, then 118-58 against hosts Australia and then 74-59 to France.

These consecutive defeats made the Malian camp get heated up with tempers flaring resulting in a fist fight between Salimatou Kourouma and Kamite Elisabeth Dabou.

The fight happened has the team walked past the conference room and was recorded by reporters who were interviewing some Serbian players.
