Former militant leader and founder of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, has made a bold declaration, asserting that he possesses the necessary manpower to triumph over the military junta in Niger Republic.

In a viral video that has rapidly circulated, Dokubo conveyed his readiness to lead his armed group into Niger Republic, should he be called upon by the federal government to do so. He expressed confidence that he and his associates possess the capability to reinstate democracy in the neighboring country.

Dokubo stated, “If the government commissions me and my people to go to Niger Republic, we will go. We will defeat them and we will come back victorious. It is not a boast.”

Undeterred by the challenges that lie ahead, he emphasized that he and his group would be capable of surmounting any obstacles and successfully restoring democratic order in Niger Republic.

While ongoing negotiations and reconciliation efforts persist between the Niger junta and African leaders, Asari Dokubo’s assertion adds a new dimension to the complex situation. The video has sparked widespread discussions about the potential consequences of involving external forces in the internal affairs of another nation.

In a recent development, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, met with the leaders of the coup in Niger Republic. This engagement came after the junta had canceled meetings with representatives from the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and a prominent US diplomat.
