Nightclub fire kills 51, injures over 100 in North Macedonia

At least 51 people were killed and more than 100 injured after a fire broke out in a nightclub early Sunday in Kocani, North Macedonia.
Interior Minister Pance Toskovski stated that the fire was triggered by pyrotechnic devices used during a concert.
“Sparks caused fire … and fire spread through the discotheque,” he said.
Video footage from the event shows a band performing on stage as two flares shoot white sparks into the air. The sparks reportedly ignited the ceiling, causing the fire to spread rapidly.
Local TV footage showed firefighters extinguishing flames at the entrance of the club, named Pulse, which was left charred and smoking.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski described the incident as a tragic and devastating loss, calling it a difficult day for Macedonia.
“The loss of so many young lives is irreparable, and the pain of their families and friends is immeasurable,” he said, urging authorities to provide urgent support to the victims and their families.
