Obasanjo’s wife seeks forgiveness from Yoruba Monarchs over husband’s actions

Taiwo, the spouse of the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, issued a request for forgiveness to the Obas and the Yoruba community on Sunday regarding a recent incident involving her husband.

It’s worth recalling that during the commissioning of projects carried out by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Obasanjo, a special guest of honor, criticized certain Yoruba traditional rulers for not showing him due respect as a former president. Consequently, he instructed them to rise and acknowledge his presence.

However, in a statement titled “Oyo Kings: A Plea for Forgiveness” released on Sunday, Mrs. Obasanjo, who is a mother of two children – Olujonwo and Olubunmi – fathered by the former president, earnestly sought “permanent and eternal forgiveness and pardon” from the entire Yoruba community, encompassing all age groups, religions, and societal segments.

Expressing her plea with humility as a mother, she implored all the aforementioned individuals and groups not to “retaliate against any of us for the transgressions of Daddy Obasanjo.”
