Odoba vs Obu clash: Senator Abba Moro sues for peace between Benue waring communities

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Comrade Abba Moro, has urged Obu and Odoba communities in Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government area of Benue State, to sheathe swords and embrace peace.

Senator Moro who was reacting to the altercation that broke out at a party in Odoba where a young man from Obu was killed and two other young men from Odoba murdered in a reprisal attack by hoodlums from Obu, on Saturday, condemned the unfortunate incident.

The was contained in a statement titled “OTUKPA MAYHEM: SENATOR ABBA MORO SUES FOR PEACE, URGES WARING COMMUNITIES TO SHEATHE SWORDS”, and released by the SA on media (P & E) to Senator Abba Moro, Ameh Godwin-Azikiwe, on Monday.

“The Senator representing the people of Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro condemns, in its entirety, the outbreak of violence between Odoba and Obu communities in Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, where three young men have been killed and many houses set on fire,” the statement read in part.

Senator Moro urged the communities not to take laws into their hands.

“He charges the waring communities to sheathe their swords and let the law take charge as to do otherwise will lead to further avoidable bloodshed,” it said.

“The Comrade-Senator calls on relevant security agencies to move to the area to avoid further escalation of the crisis.”

The statement added: “Senator Moro calls on the youths of the area and Benue South at large to always find a better way of resolving their disputes instead of resorting to violence.”
