Ogbadibo to hold palm wine contest at 6th edition of cultural carnival

Organisers of the Ogbadibo cultural carnival have announced that there will be a palmwine contest for both tapers and consumers to mark the 2022 cultural carnival scheduled.

The event is scheduled for December 26-28, 2022 at Government Science and Technical College (GCO) Ipari-Otukpa Ogbadibo LG Area of Benue state.

Ogbadibo, comprises 3 districts – Otukpa, Orokam and Owukpa respectively.

The initiator of the festival, Johnson Agada (Ach’Oklobia) has, therefore called on all sons and daughters of Ogbadibo indigenous people to come and showcase their cultural heritage and talents in different areas including tasting and indicating undiluted palmwine in its originality tapped directly from the source.

He said, “Can you tell the taste of an undiluted PalmWine? Get ready for the competition, come and taste palm wine in its originality tapped directly from the source”.

Agada added that the sole aim of organizing the carnival is for the preservation of the diminishing culture and rich cultural heritage in the face of increasing waves of civilisation, socialisation and modernization.

He aded, “We are of the opinion that; as we Africans advance, let’s carry our cultures along, and not embracing and adopting western civilisation completely to the detriment of our own culture”.
