The apex Igbo Socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has lambasted the National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Emma Ibediro, over his statement on the clamour by the people of Southeast zone for the actualization of Nigeria President of Igbo extraction in 2023.

It was earlier reported on Tuesday, that the National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Emma Ibediro had stated that getting an Igbo President in 2023 was not a right. According to him, aspiration must involve every part of the country. Ibediro said that the Igbo nation must be ready to work within the ruling party or any other platform they intend to use to actualise their dream of ruling Nigeria.

“In 2015, only 198,000 votes came in from the entire south-east. In 2019, we had a little above 400,000″.

“Some people will say that it is an improvement. What type of improvement is that? But, Ohanaeze, in a statement issued by its Spokesman, Chuks Ibegbu, Wednesday, warned Ibediro, Orji Uzor Kalu, Rochas Okorocha and some Igbo leaders to stop abusing their people, because of the political position they occupy.

The group wondered why a full-blooded Igbo man could make such a statement. Ohanaeze’s statement reads, “I don’t expect Igbos to be at the vanguard of such discouraging statements.
