Victor Osimhen stole the spotlight with a sensational hat-trick as Napoli secured a commanding 6-1 victory over Sassuolo in a thrilling Serie A clash on Wednesday.

Since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he found the net just once, Osimhen has reignited his scoring prowess for Napoli.

His standout performance reached new heights with a memorable hat-trick during this week’s fixture.

The Nigerian forward commenced his three-goal spree in the 31st minute, slotting home from close range following a well-crafted combination involving Matteo Politano and Di Lorenzo.

He then doubled his tally ten minutes later, exhibiting his speed and composure to evade the offside trap and delicately chip the ball past the goalkeeper.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the second half, seizing upon a defensive lapse by Sassuolo’s Ruan Tressoldi, who inadvertently passed the ball to Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger unselfishly squared it for Osimhen to tap into an empty net.

This exceptional display firmly etched Osimhen’s name into Napoli’s history books. He now stands as only the third player in the club’s storied history to notch at least 10 goals in four consecutive Serie A campaigns, joining the esteemed ranks of the legendary Diego Maradona (1984/85 – 1987/88) and Attila Sallustro (1929/30 – 1932/33).
