Osimhen scores 17th goal of 2025, ties for third in Europe’s top scorers

Victor Osimhen scored his 17th goal of 2025, propelling the Nigerian striker into a tie for third place among Europe’s top goal scorers this calendar year, alongside Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
The Galatasaray forward found the back of the net in a 2-0 win over Samsunspor on Friday, extending his remarkable scoring streak. His tally now surpasses that of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy (13 goals).
Only PSG’s Ousmane Dembele (24 goals) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe (19 goals) have scored more than Osimhen in 2025.
Osimhen’s latest goal came in a crucial clash at the Samsun 19 Mayis Stadium, as Galatasaray aimed to preserve their three-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig following a recent derby loss to Besiktas.
The 25-year-old has been in sensational form since the start of the year. His 2025 campaign began with a goal in a 2-1 win over Goztepe on January 4, followed by strikes against Hatayspor, Dynamo Kyiv, Konyaspor, and Ajax before the end of the month.
February brought a brace against Rizespor in a 2-1 victory, and another goal in a 2-2 draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
March proved to be especially fruitful for Osimhen, as he netted twice in a 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, scored in a 2-1 win over Alanyaspor, and completed a stunning hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Antalyaspor.
Osimhen has continued his prolific form into April, scoring twice in a vital 2-1 win over Fenerbahce before today’s strike against Samsunspor.
His total now stands at an impressive 29 goals and five assists across all competitions this season. In the Turkish Super Lig, he has scored 21 goals and provided four assists, while also contributing six goals and one assist in the Europa League, and two goals in the Turkish Cup.
Osimhen’s exceptional scoring ability has been vital for Galatasaray’s title chase, especially following their first league defeat of the season in the recent Istanbul derby against Besiktas, which reduced their lead to just three points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahce.
