Otukpo LG chairmanship tussle: Abounu sues for peace as PDP caucus zones seat to Entekpa

The meeting of Otukpo Local Government PDP Stakeholders have narrowed the chairmanship seat to Entakpa in the May Local Government Election.

The decision was reached today at the instance of the meeting called and presided over by the Deputy Governor Engineer Benson Abounu held at his office in Makurdi.

In his address,Engineer Abounu mandated members of the Entakpa community to look inward and carefully come out with a competent candidate with capacity to lead the Council.

Engineer Abounu while sueing for unity and peace amongst the People’s Democratic Party, PDP stakeholders in otukpo said failure to agree on a consensus candidate,primaries would be conducted to determine who is to become the next chairman.

He said PDP, being a credible party wishes to carry everybody along, give each aspirants equal opportunity and build in them, a sense of belonging,stressing that he will follow the examples of his Boss, Governor Samuel Ortom and ensure that the process is rancour free.

Engineer Abounu noted that as a foundation member of the PDP, he is aware that the party’s constitution recognizes candidacy by voting or by concensus arrenagement.

The leader of PDP in Adoka, Hon. Barr. Paul Harris Ogbole,SAN thanked the Deputy Governor for his matured leadership and wisdom in the decision arrived at and promised to further meet and iron out their differences and get back to him at a later date.

In their separate remarks, Hon. George Alli, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, Hon. Chief. Johnson Baba Odeh, Member Representing Otukpo/Akpa at the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Audu,Member Representing Adoka/Ugboju at the Benue state House of Assembly; Hon. Ogidi, Chief. Nart Ugboh, Hon. Oche, Joseph Gordon, all expressed satisfaction and praised the Deputy Governor, for his wisdom and great sense of judgment in resolving the matter.
