Rapper Tay-K convicted of murder in second fatal shooting case

U.S. rapper Taymor McIntyre, known professionally as Tay-K, has been convicted of murder for the second time, following a jury’s verdict finding him guilty of fatally shooting 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio.
The incident occurred in 2017, and Tay-K now faces a potential life sentence with the possibility of parole.
This latest conviction comes while he is already serving a 55-year prison term for his involvement in a separate fatal shooting.
Prosecutors argued that the rapper shot Saldivar during an attempted robbery, presenting the act as a deliberate and violent crime.
However, Tay-K’s defense team challenged the integrity of the police investigation, accusing authorities of relying heavily on what they described as biased witness testimonies from individuals who were present in the car at the time of the shooting.
“Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter, and the reason for that is very simple.
“You have to do it right. You have to do the work. And this case clearly demonstrates the work wasn’t done,” defence attorney John Hunter said during closing arguments.
While the jury found Tay-K not guilty of capital murder, which would have carried an automatic life sentence without parole, they did convict him of murder.
The trial has now moved into the sentencing phase, where additional evidence will be presented before a final sentence is determined.
