Deputy Spokesperson, House of Representatives, Chief Philip Agbese, has expressed great joy over the establishment of a new Methodist Diocese of Enone South in Benue State.

Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency (also known as Enone) at the Green Chamber, said at a time when people no longer have quality time for the things of God, creating a new Diocese would bring Church administration closer to the people, thereby serving as a wheel for evangelism at the grassroots.

In a statement personally signed on Friday, the Lawmaker also congratulated the pioneer Bishop of the newly created Diocese, His Lordship, RT. Rev. (Dr.) Ali Godwin Idoko, over his election to pilot the affairs of the Diocese.

Agbese said, “I’m happy for my Constituency and Constituents. This is a good course for the expansion of gospel and a wheel for grassroots evangelism in Owukpa, Orokam and environs.

“This is happening at a time when people place personal interests far above the work of God; people elevate things of the world more than the things of God; and I’m happy over the expansion of the gospel across my Constituency, Enone.

“Let me also, sincerely, felicitate the new Bishop, His Lordship, Dr. Ali Godwin Idoko for his elevation to the position of Rt. Reverend in the Methodist Church Nigeria.

“I’m happy for him on this historic feat. This is happening in Otukpa land after 22 years, when the first Bishop of Methodist Church of Otukpa extraction emerged. I’m happy it is happening in my time. It shows God is at work in Enone. I congratulate the Ai-Oodo community where the new Bishop hails from. I have no doubt he would fervently propagate the gospel of God and bring salvation to all in the land”.

Agbese called on political, religious and opinion leaders to rally round the new Bishop in his quest of building the new Diocese of Enone South.

While calling on his Constituents to use the opportunity of general annual fasting to pray for the new Diocese, Agbese extended goodwill message to the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, who also hails from his Constituency; as he arrives Benue on Sunday, 28th January, 2024, for the official inauguration of the new Diocese.
