Eleven individuals, including seven mobile police officers and four civilians, were killed in a terror attack on the Magarya community in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to Daily Post, the bandits destroyed three cars, including one belonging to the district head of Magarya, the brother of Nasir Magarya, the former speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly. Additionally, chairs in the former speaker’s house were set on fire.

Ahmad Umar, a resident of the area, informed the publication that the Magarya Model Primary School was also set ablaze, and many residents sustained injuries of varying degrees. As of the time of the report, the State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, had not yet issued a statement on the incident.

In a related development, bandits abducted the wife of the paramount ruler of Ninzo chiefdom, Umar Musa, in the Sanga local government area of Kaduna State. This follows an earlier abduction of the paramount ruler and his wife from their palace in Fadan-Ninzo, along with other residents.

An eyewitness reported that the bandits entered the palace, firing indiscriminately, and kidnapped the traditional ruler and his wife. ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, told Channels Television that the traditional ruler escaped from the bandits’ custody after police officers swiftly responded to a distress call. The police are currently pursuing the bandits to rescue the traditional ruler’s wife and other captives.

Meanwhile, suspected bandits reportedly killed Auwal Wali, the traditional ruler of Gidan Usmanu Village.
