Someone that should be in jail – PDP mocks appointment of Ganduje as APC chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed strong dissent over the All Progressive Congress’s (APC) decision to appoint Abdullahi Ganduje as its National Chairman, despite facing lingering corruption and bribery allegations. Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, issued a statement on Thursday, denouncing the APC as a breeding ground for corruption, embezzlement, and bribery.

The PDP referenced the notorious “Gandollar” video, which allegedly shows Ganduje accepting US Dollar notes as bribes from a contractor during his tenure as Governor of Kano State, earning him the nickname “Gandola” among Nigerians. The party expressed deep concern regarding his appointment, asserting that it only solidifies their belief that the APC is a party populated with individuals engaged in embezzlement and deceit.

Drawing attention to a recent forensic analysis conducted by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), the PDP urged Nigerians to acknowledge that the “Gandollar” video was deemed authentic and not manipulated.

The statement also raised questions about Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership within the APC, given the controversial appointment of Ganduje. Despite facing alleged bribery charges and potential prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ganduje has been rewarded with the prestigious position of APC National Chairman, leading the PDP to question the party’s commitment to integrity and accountability.

Referring to the APC as a “Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)” that shelters “political bandits,” a term previously used by the former Director General of Progressive Governors’ Forum, the PDP underlines its perception of the party as being filled with dubious elements.

Additionally, the statement recalled Ganduje’s role as Co-Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council during the July 2022 Osun State Governorship election, which resulted in a crushing defeat for the APC, with the PDP emerging victorious.
