Thomas Tuchel makes final decision on Cristiano Ronaldo

Chelsea have been linked with a summer transfer move for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has met with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, which has further sparked rumours of an exit from the club.

Ronaldo wants to play in the Champions League next season, and with Manchester United set to play Europa League football, the Portugal legend wants a fresh challenge.

Thomas Tuchel has toyed with the idea of having Ronaldo at Stamford Bridge but has opted against the move.

Asked about a move for Ronaldo, Thomas Tuchel told Sky Sports: “I would not rule out signing another striker, but it’s not our priority.

“The priority right now is our defence, it’s not a secret.”

The club’s new American owner, Todd Boehly, has taken on the role of acting sporting director following the departure of Marina Granovskaia last month.

Boehly is keen on making a superstar signing to announce their new ownership and is open to signing Ronaldo, but Thomas Tuchel doesn’t want the transfer.

Confirming reports about Ronaldo, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tuchel isn’t in support of the move.

Romano claims: “Thomas Tuchel has decided against Cristiano Ronaldo signing, as things stand. Jorge Mendes had talks with Todd Boehly but final decision has always been up to the manager. #CFC

“Chelsea are now focused on different deals – Tuchel isn’t keen on signing Cristiano.”
