The Nigerian government has placed Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi state, on its watchlist, as disclosed by the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, in a memo dated April 19, 2024.

Security agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, have been instructed to arrest Bello at any entry or exit point. The memo, addressed to the heads of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), outlines the details of Bello’s international passport.

The memo states, “I am directed to inform you that the above-named person has been placed on the watchlist. Suffice to mention that the subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja for Conspiracy, Breach of Trust, and Money Laundering.” It further directs that if Bello is spotted at any entry or exit point, he should be arrested and referred to the Director of Investigation or contacted via specified phone numbers for further action.

This development follows the declaration of Bello as wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, amidst allegations of Conspiracy, Breach of Trust, and Money Laundering.
