Transfer: AI Hilal offer Osimhen £1 million-per-peek

Saudi Arabian club, Al Hilal, have sent shockwaves through the footballing world with a mouth-watering offer of €140 million (£120.3 million) to Napoli for their star striker, Victor Osimhen. In addition to the staggering transfer fee, the Saudi Pro League club is prepared to tempt the Nigerian attacker with weekly wages in the region of £1 million.

Al Hilal’s ambitious spending spree this summer has already seen them secure a bid acceptance of €300 million (£259 million) for Paris St-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, despite the player choosing not to meet with them. The Saudi side also attempted to sign Lionel Messi before he ultimately joined Inter Miami.

Victor Osimhen, aged 24, has emerged as a highly sought-after transfer target this summer, attracting interest from top clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.

While Napoli have been keen to retain Osimhen’s services, talks over a new contract have hit a roadblock, as reported by Sky Italy. A meeting between the club and the player’s agent failed to reach a resolution on an extension to his existing deal, which is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

Last month, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis hinted at a possible contract extension for Osimhen, revealing, “We have a basic agreement on a two-year extension, but [we are] willing to consider an offer we could not refuse.”

However, De Laurentiis reportedly intended to include a €200 million release clause, a figure Osimhen’s agent is keen to negotiate to a lower amount.
