Transfer: Alex Iwobi set to join Fulham from Everton

Fulham are currently in discussions with Everton for signing of Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi prior to Friday’s transfer deadline.

This was disclosed by Sky Sports Premier League via their X platform on Tuesday.

With the substantial departure of star forward Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal, a prominent team in the Saudi Pro League, for a considerable £46 million, Fulham aims to fortify its offensive capabilities.

Alex Iwobi, presently sidelined due to injury, has entered the final year of his contract with Goodison Park. His absence resulted from Everton’s 4-0 loss against Aston Villa, causing him to miss the subsequent 1-0 defeat against Wolves at home.

Interestingly, Fulham’s current manager, Marco Silva, held the reins at Everton when Iwobi made his transition from Arsenal in 2019. This shared history may hold significance as the negotiations unfold.

As indicated by Sky Sports, aside from Fulham, two additional clubs are expressing interest in securing the services of the Nigerian international. One of these suitors hails from the Premier League, while the other operates outside of England.

Iwobi’s Everton tenure comprises nine goals and 16 assists across 140 appearances.

Should this transfer materialize, Iwobi would have the opportunity to join forces with Calvin Bassey, a recent signing from Ajax, within the Fulham ranks.
