Troops neutralise two kidnappers, free captive in Kogi
Operatives of the Nigerian Army have killed two suspected kidnappers and secured the release of an abducted civilian during a coordinated operation in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, sources revealed that the mission was executed around 9:16 a.m. on May 3 by troops of the 12 Brigade at the Ofante–Unyi Ogugu Patrol Base, working alongside the Police.
The sources disclosed that the security team acted on credible intelligence regarding the abduction of a resident in Orakam village.
They explained that the joint forces advanced to a suspected hideout at Adego Trailer Park, where they came into contact with the kidnappers.
During the confrontation, two of the suspects were killed, while others managed to escape.
“They added that two kidnappers were neutralised during the exchange of fire, while others fled the scene,” Makama said.
The abducted individual was rescued unhurt in the course of the operation.
Items recovered at the location included a mobile phone and N40,000 in cash.
Security sources further stated that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network in the area.
