Troops rescue six kidnap victims in Sokoto
Troops of Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnapped victims during a military operation in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
The rescue was disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on X on Saturday.
According to Bakatsine, the operation took place on Thursday when troops intercepted three suspected terrorists riding motorcycles in the area.
He said the suspects were transporting the abducted victims from Kure village when they spotted the troops, abandoned the captives, and fled the scene.
The rescued victims were identified as Usman, 24; Baba Usman, 56; Hassan, 22; Sunusi, 23; Abdullahi Yahaya, 28; and Sule, 15.
Bakatsine praised the troops for their bravery and commitment in the fight against terrorism.
“On Thursday, troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, rescued six kidnapped victims in Sokoto State after intercepting three terrorists on motorcycles in Sabon Birni LGA. The terrorists, who were transporting the captives from Kure village, abandoned them and fled upon sighting the troops,” he wrote.
“Kudos to the troops for their courage, professionalism and sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism.” He added.
