Veteran Nigerian broadcaster, Christianah Ademulegun dies at 74

Christianah Ademulegun, the first indigenous broadcaster from Ekiti State, known as ‘Eye Opitan,’ has passed away at the age of 74.

She was renowned for her knowledge of Ekiti’s towns and their oriki (praise poetry). According to her son, Femi Ademulegun, she passed away early Thursday morning following a brief illness.

Ademulegun retired from the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State but continued consulting for private stations. She leaves behind children and grandchildren.

In a separate development, IDOMA VOICE reports that Nollywood actor Columbus Irisoanga, widely recognized as ‘Igbudu,’ has also passed away.

His death was confirmed by veteran actress and politician Hilda Dokubo, who expressed profound sadness over the loss. Irisoanga’s passing is seen as a significant blow to both the University of Port Harcourt, where he had ties, and the Nollywood film industry.

This follows the recent death of actress Pat Ugwu, who passed away at 35, with veteran actor Emeka Okoye confirming her untimely demise.
