Victor Moses departs Luton Town after relegation to League One

Former Super Eagles winger Victor Moses has officially parted ways with EFL Championship side Luton Town following the club’s relegation to League One.

The 34-year-old, who joined The Hatters in July from Spartak Moscow on a free transfer, brought a wealth of experience and a decorated career to the team. However, Moses’ time at Luton Town was overshadowed by the club’s struggles throughout the season, which ultimately saw them finish in the relegation zone.

The setback marked a disappointing season for Luton, who had dropped from the English Premier League to the Championship just the previous summer.

In an official statement, Luton Town confirmed that Moses would not be offered a contract renewal, alongside Netherlands goalkeeper Tim Krul and several other first-team players. The club’s statement listed the departing players, saying, “First-team squad players also departing include goalkeepers Tim Krul and Jameson Horlick, and winger Victor Moses, upon the natural expiry of their contracts.”

Additionally, it was noted that Josh Bowler would return to his parent club, Nottingham Forest, after his loan spell, while Kal Naismith’s half-season loan would conclude, sending him back to Bristol to fulfill the remainder of his contract.

Luton Town expressed gratitude for the contributions of the departing players, saying, “We would like to thank Kal, Tim, Victor, Jameson, and Josh immensely for their contributions to the club this season, and we wish them well in their future careers.”

Moses, known for his time at Chelsea, boasts an illustrious career with significant achievements including winning the FA Cup, Premier League, and UEFA Europa League. He was also a key figure in the Nigerian national team, playing a crucial role in their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph in South Africa.
