The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. The examination, held between October 27 and December 20, 2023, saw a total of 80,904 candidates sitting across 568 centers nationwide.

Of the 85,600 candidates who registered, 78,419 have had their results fully processed and released, while 2,485 candidates are still awaiting completion due to errors on their part. WAEC assures these candidates that efforts are underway to expedite the processing of their results.

Candidates are reminded that the WASSCE for Private Candidates allows flexibility, with candidates free to choose the number of subjects they wish to sit for. Despite misconceptions about performance, WAEC emphasizes that the examination serves as a vital opportunity for candidates to address deficiencies and improve their academic standing.

Out of the candidates who sat for the examination, 35,830 achieved credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. WAEC reports that 46,267 candidates secured credits in five subjects, with or without English Language and Mathematics.
