The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State has strongly denied reports suggesting any link between the party and Governor Hyacinth Alia or his administration, describing such claims as unfounded, misleading, and orchestrated by political mischief makers.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Stevie Ayua, the ADC reaffirmed its independence and commitment to providing Benue people with a credible alternative to what it described as the “failed governance” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ayua recalled that the official unveiling of the Benue State Chapter of the ADC on July 10, 2025, in Makurdi drew the participation of experienced politicians, committed stakeholders, and passionate youths united in their determination to rescue the state from poor leadership.

He explained that following the launch, the party witnessed a surge in membership registration across urban and rural areas, reflecting growing public trust in the ADC’s vision and ideals.

According to Ayua, the state leadership has since embarked on a statewide tour to inaugurate local chapters and mobilize grassroots support activities he noted are fully funded through voluntary contributions from members and stakeholders.

“We are proud to declare that our party’s funding and operations are entirely independent of any external influence, particularly from Governor Alia or the Benue State Government,” Ayua stated.

“We do not and will not accept financial or material support from non-members for the administration of our party.”

The statement further dismissed insinuations of any alliance, understanding, or secret arrangement between the ADC, Governor Alia, or the APC, stressing that such rumours are politically motivated.

“The ADC is not, and will never be, a fallback option or safe haven for politicians who fail to secure tickets in their respective parties,” the statement read.

“While our doors remain open to all Nigerians who share our ideals, we will not allow opportunists to hijack our platform for personal or electoral gain.”

The ADC urged those behind the false narratives to focus on addressing challenges within their own parties instead of attempting to undermine a movement genuinely committed to good governance, transparency, and development.

Concluding, the party reiterated its resolve to remain focused on its “rescue mission” to rebuild Benue and Nigeria through people-centered policies anchored on integrity and accountability.

“We categorically reject any insinuation of collaboration or alignment with the APC government in Benue State,” the statement concluded.

“The ADC stands for genuine change and will not be distracted by falsehoods.”
