2027: David Mark, Amaechi, others will not smell Aso Rock again – Wike brags

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing attack on former Senate President David Mark and ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, accusing them of deceiving Nigerians through the newly formed opposition coalition.

Speaking on Friday during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, Wike dismissed the coalition’s chances of returning to power in 2027.

The project was inaugurated by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu as part of activities marking Tinubu’s second year in office.

Wike took a swipe at Mark, Amaechi, and other opposition leaders, challenging them to present their performance records to Nigerians instead of criticizing the current administration.

“They said the coalition started 18 months ago, but Tinubu has only been in office for two years. That means they started plotting just six months into his tenure,” Wike said. “When will you stop deceiving Nigerians?”

He continued: “You [David Mark] were Senate President for eight years, and you [Rotimi Amaechi] were Speaker for four years and Minister for eight years. Did you make angry Nigerians happy during your time? Yet today, you speak as if you were saints in office.”

Wike declared that the era of empty criticism was over, saying the FCT Administration is embracing an “Operation Show Your Scorecard” approach.

“We’ve only been here for 16 days, and we’re already showing results. Let everyone come forward and show what they achieved while in office,” he said. “Is it by flying helicopters to Otukpo that you help your people?”

The minister further accused the opposition of feigning concern for Nigerians only because they are out of power.

“God gave you the opportunity to serve, but you failed. Now you’re talking about angry Nigerians, just because you want to return to power. You will not come back,” Wike declared.
