1. Benue State Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom has congratulated the Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke for his victory at the Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
Governor Ortom in a congratulatory message to Adeleke on Sunday, also praised the people of Osun state, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), the media , civil society organizations (CSOs) and the security operatives for ensuring that the will of the people prevailed.
3. The Benue State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sunday vowed to resist the Muslim-Muslim ticket being imposed on Nigerians by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government.
Chairman of CAN in the state, Rev. Augustine Akpen Leva disclosed this at the end of the seven-day interdenominational church service it organised in conjunction with the state government to pray and fast for the challenges confronting the nation.
4. The International Committee of The Red Cross (ICRC) has revealed that it is assisting vulnerable farmers in Nigeria with over two million metric tonnes of seeds and other inputs in Benue and other five states.
This was revealed by an ICRC Agronomist, Dr, Henry Shalma, during a One-day ICRC seminar on Humanitarian Reporting for members of Agricultural Correspondents Association of Nigeria, (ACAN), held recently in Abuja.
5. The Benue Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says 80 babies were delivered in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the state in seven months.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Dr Emmanuel Shior, made this known on Friday in Makurdi during the agency’s monthly distribution of relief materials to the IDPs.
6. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has called on the American government and the international community to hold the Mohammadu Buhari-led administration accountable for the spate of violence in Nigeria.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs, Peters Ichull, yesterday in Makurdi, the governor made the call while interacting with officials of the State Department in Washington DC, USA.
7. The Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Dr. Emmanuel Shior, has said that no fewer than 200 persons have been displaced in the recent attack on Igama community in Okpokwu Local Government Area, LGA, by suspected armed herdsmen.
8. Senator David Mark, former Senate President has said Senator Adeleke’s victory is a testimony of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) acceptance by the people of Osun state who desire positive changes .
Mark told Adeleke to see his victory as a call to higher responsibility, the power to do good and emancipate the people from deprivation, poverty and want.
