1. The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed sadness over sustained clashes between farmers and herders that led to the loss of lives including those of police officers in Gbeji village, Ukum local government area of Benue State.

2. The PDP presidential flag bearer expressed concerns that the escalation of intercommunal violence does not bode well for our national unity and stability.

Civil rights advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), yesterday, backed the call by a former Chief of Army Staff (CAS), Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, that Nigerians acquire arms to defend themselves against terrorists overrunning the country.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement, also knocked the Federal Government for denying state-owned security outfits like Amotekun and Benue Guards licence to bear AK-47 rifles against the aggressors who masquerade as herdsmen and kidnappers, but launch vicious onslaughts on Nigerians, killing thousands in the last seven years.The group described as alarming and unpardonable that no fewer than 53,418 Nigerians lost their lives to non-state actors between May 29, 2015 and October 15, 2022.

3. The Senate of Benue State University, Makurdi at its 299th meeting held on Friday, 21st October, 2022 approved a revised academic calendar for the first semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Session.

4. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige has commiserated with former Senate President, David Mark, on the demise of his son, Tunde Jonathan Mark.
Ngige also extended his condolences to the people of Otukpo town, Benue South Senatorial district and the entire Benue State on the death of the eldest son of his colleague in the Seventh Senate.
5.The Nigerian Government has been advised to explore Public Private Partnership, PPP, in resolving the perennial flooding disaster facing the country.
The National President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, Otunba Francis Meshioye, urged the Federal Government to opt for PPP solution in dredging of River Benue and Niger.
6. Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Benue State and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Titus Uba has reiterated the need for the creation of State police in Nigeria to enable States to effectively tackle their security challenges.
He said creation of State police in Nigeria would help the governors protect the life and property of their people hence the Federal government has failed to adequately tackle the prevailing insecurity in the States of the Federation.
