Chelsea Football Club have been dealt a blow as their esteemed captain, Reece James, is poised to spend an extended spell on the sidelines, ranging from three to four months. This untimely setback arises from a fresh hamstring injury that the talented skipper sustained during a recent encounter.

Reports from Football London shed light on the concerning situation, revealing that James, who was substituted in the 76th minute during the clash against Liverpool, now faces the prospect of missing several matches as a result of this newly acquired injury.

Reece James assumed the role of Chelsea’s captain following the departure of Cesar Azpilicueta, who joined Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window. The England wing-back earned this honor under the leadership of the club’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

Despite the recent setback, James demonstrated his commitment by actively participating in his team’s Premier League opener against Liverpool. The exhilarating contest, which culminated in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, showcased James’ tenacity and dedication on the field.

In response to inquiries about his decision to substitute the newly appointed captain, Mauricio Pochettino offered insight into his rationale, stating, “Because he was tired.”

“You need to see from where he came. The first thing we did when we arrived was to assess and analyse all of the players from the past.

“He was injured for three or four months. This pre-season was tough for him, we didn’t want to take any risk and that is why at 80 minutes, we wanted to avoid the risk.”

While it is not certain how long James will be out, football journalist, Nathan Gissing said he is billed to undergo a scan on Friday.
