Youths and motorists in Benue State took to the streets on Wednesday to block the Gboko highway in protest of the Federal Government’s delayed response to repair a crucial bridge that had collapsed due to heavy rains over the weekend.

The impassioned protesters, operating under the banner of Mbayion Youths, voiced their concerns over the collapsed bridge and urged the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to take immediate action to rectify the situation.

Mr. Denen Agber, the leader of the youth group, stated, “This desperate action is the result of several futile attempts by the community to undertake makeshift repairs on the road, leading to our decision to block the road.” Agber further highlighted the road’s deplorable condition, which has caused great inconvenience and suffering for commuters in the area.
