Unidentified gunmen have abducted an individual believed to be an active-duty police officer in the Toro Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State. This incident unfolded shortly after security forces successfully secured the release of 33 kidnapping victims in Alkaleri LGA within the same state.

According to reports, Toro town was engulfed in chaos on a Friday night when the gunmen launched an invasion. The assailants unleashed a volley of indiscriminate gunfire, causing panic among residents, before making off with their victim—a serving Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The persistent activities of kidnappers have cast a shadow over economic activities in Toro LGA, with residents apprehensive about engaging in their daily businesses due to the looming threat of abduction.

Ismail Haruna Dabo, the representative for Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed his condemnation of the incident and called for calm in the community. He lamented the unfortunate and regrettable nature of the situation, particularly in the context of the nation’s current economic challenges. Dabo also assured the people of his ongoing legislative efforts to address this pressing menace.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Bauchi State Police Command proved unsuccessful, as SP Ahmed Wakili, the public relations officer, did not respond to repeated phone calls.
