Reps observe moment of silence for Mohbad
The House of Representatives on Tuesday paid respects to the late Afrobeats artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27 two weeks ago. A moment of silence was observed during the commencement of an executive session in Abuja.
During this session, prompted by an urgent motion presented by Mr. Babajimi Benson, the representative for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, the lower chamber expressed its commitment to monitoring the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s demise and the royalties associated with his work.
Benson emphasized the necessity of reviewing relevant laws governing the entertainment industry and copyright regulations. He voiced concerns about the contractual agreements that artists are often obliged to enter into, underscoring the need for better protection within the industry.
