Reps committee declares Adeyemi’s PFIPC appointment letter fake

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged activities of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter presented by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identified himself as the council’s Director-General, as fake.

The Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, made the disclosure on Wednesday during the continuation of the investigation in Abuja.

Gagdi said the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who appeared before the committee for the second time, also confirmed that the documents submitted by Adeyemi were not genuine.

The lawmaker said the committee had established that the purported appointment letter and the Act allegedly used to create the council were forged.

“It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies, and the Act presented to the Head of Service was equally fake, forged by the DG; it was established,” Gagdi said.

Walson-Jack appeared before the committee following an earlier invitation to provide further clarification and make her final submissions on the matter.

The hearing was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, who represented the Inspector-General of Police.

However, as of the time of filing this report, Adeyemi had not appeared before the committee.

The development followed the committee’s earlier declaration on Monday that the establishment and operations of the alleged council constituted a serious breach, after which it directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi within 48 hours.
