Atiku vs Tinubu: Supreme Court reserves judgment in suit seeking to sack Asiwaju
The Supreme Court has opted to reserved its judgment in the case brought forward by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku Abubakar has challenged the validity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Chief Justice John Inyang Okoro, who presided over a panel of seven Supreme Court Justices during the Monday proceedings, revealed that the court had chosen to reserve its final judgement after hearing arguments from the various legal representatives involved in the case. Parties involved will be notified once the judgment date is scheduled.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), represented by Abubakar Mahmoud SAN, also called for the dismissal of Atiku’s petition on the grounds of lacking merit.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Chief Akin Olujinmi SAN, aligned with Olanipekun’s position, advocating for the dismissal of the petition.
