The Lagos State Government has sealed the Alaba International Market due to a range of issues, including improper waste disposal practices.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, on Monday via the social media platform, X.

Wahab revealed that the closure was a result of the market’s failure to adhere to proper waste disposal practices, non-payment of waste disposal fees, and multiple severe violations of environmental sanitation regulations.
“Alaba International Market, Ojo has been sealed up for poor waste disposal practices, failure to pay their waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences,” he wrote on X.

In response to these actions, Igbo traders in the Alaba International Market have expressed their concerns and grievances.
