Yoruba people tell Tinubu to consult Atiku, Obi’s blueprints to tackle Nigeria’s challenges

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has extended valuable advice to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to seek the insights and blueprints of his challengers, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, to expedite the nation-building process. Following the recent Supreme Court judgment, Mr. Femi Olaniyi, the South-West Zonal Secretary of SDP, expressed this viewpoint in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.

Olaniyi emphasized that, with adequate counsel and ideas, President Tinubu could work toward realizing the Nigeria of everyone’s dreams. He applauded Tinubu’s victory and underscored the importance of embracing fresh perspectives.

“There is no time for excuses at all. Tinubu should start welcoming more ideas, in fact, from all serious contestants for the number one seat in the country. The President should seek advice and ideas from Atiku Abubakar of PDP and Mr. Peter Obi of LP, since they both wanted to rule because of the suffering masses and to reshape the country,” he said.

In the interest of the nation, Olaniyi called upon Atiku and Obi to be ready to offer their valuable insights to Tinubu, which could contribute to Nigeria’s competitiveness on the global stage. He emphasized the need for politicians to set aside their differences and work together for the sake of the nation’s future.

“We should forget politics now as true leaders and citizens. Election has come and gone, and the apex court has given its verdict. All the presidential aspirants should work together and be part of this government for the sake of the future of this country. It is not compulsory for them to be directly part of Tinubu’s government but with ideas and advice, a new story can be written for Nigeria soon,” he remarked.

Olaniyi also urged all stakeholders to view the development of Nigeria as a collective responsibility, emphasizing that the Supreme Court’s verdict had resolved governance and policy-making issues. With President Tinubu’s mandate now secure, he stressed the importance of focusing on economic recovery and reducing inflation.

“Now that Tinubu has his mandate secured fully, he should run and make the economy bounce back and reduce inflation. There is much relief for him (Tinubu) to squarely focus on governance and nation-building. This is now the time for the president to buckle up,” he concluded.

The Supreme Court’s dismissal of the appeals by presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi challenging Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election was upheld in the lead verdict delivered by Justice John Okoro. This decision affirmed Tinubu’s election as Nigeria’s president in the 2023 general election. (NAN)
