Victor Osimhen has been strongly linked with potential moves to both Arsenal and Chelsea this summer.
Both London clubs are in search of a prolific striker and have been monitoring several options in recent months. However, Osimhen stands out as one of the most exciting prospects, and his departure from Napoli seems likely before the transfer window closes in two weeks.
According to a report from GiveMeSport, Osimhen favors a move to Chelsea over Arsenal.
Securing a top striker would elevate both Arsenal and Chelsea. While Chelsea currently faces numerous challenges, acquiring a prolific forward could make them a formidable team. Arsenal, already one of the strongest clubs globally, would also benefit from a reliable goal-scorer.
Football legend Alan Shearer has even suggested that Arsenal could clinch the Premier League title if they sign a top-class striker this summer, a sentiment many agree with. However, it seems unlikely that Osimhen will be the one to join them.
The report indicates that rumors linking Osimhen to Arsenal are “premature,” as there hasn’t been any significant progress. Additionally, if the choice were between the two, Osimhen would reportedly prefer to join Chelsea this summer.
For either club to make a move, Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen would need to be lowered.
Arsenal is also considering other striker options, with Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon, Evan Ferguson of Brighton and Hove Albion, and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez all on their shortlist. However, Arsenal’s budget may limit their ability to pursue these targets unless there are further departures.
Players like Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson might need to be sold before Arsenal can strengthen their attack in this transfer window.
