William Troost-Ekong has commended his Super Eagles teammates for their resilience following their difficult experience in Libya.

The Nigerian national team faced poor treatment upon their arrival in the North African country on Sunday, leading to the decision to withdraw from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matchday four qualifier.

After returning to Nigeria on Monday evening, Troost-Ekong took to social media to praise his teammates for their perseverance.

“Proud of this team, NAIJA SPIRIT can’t be broken. Throw at us what you want, it’s in our blood to overcome. I’ve seen a lot in my 10 years with this group, but nothing like this, an experience that has brought us even closer TOGETHER,” the defender wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

He added, “My last words about this, and I look forward to continuing our journey to AFCON 2025 next month in November the right way. Our goal of doing the best for Nigerian football won’t ever change.
